Mary Black 의 보이스는 너무 아름답다. 아마도 애니 해슬럼 못지 않은 아름다운 보이스를 가지고 있어 인기를 얻지 않을까 한다. 어린 시절의 수도원 학교 합창단 경력이나 'De Dannan' 밴드의 경력들은 그녀의 음악적 경력에 많은 도움이 되었을 것이다. 그 후 'Anthem'이란 첫 앨범을 발매하고, 그녀의 음악 생활은 화려하게 시작되었다. 첫 앨범인 'Anthem'은 아일랜드에서 '그 해의 앨범'상을 수상하고, 'Without The Fanfare', 'By The Time It Gets Dark' 등의 앨범을 거쳐 1989년 'No Frontiers' 앨범에서는 200만장의 앨범 판매량을 올리게 된다. 그녀의 모든 노래가 좋기는 하지만 그중 추천을 해본다면, 첫 타이틀 곡인 'No Frontiers'는 타이틀 값을 하는것 같다. 또 'I Say A Little Prayer'는 컨츄리풍과 아일랜드풍의 애수가 묘하게 결합되어 있다.
